ESTHER RUIZ

Well (IV), 2016

Esther Ruiz’s Well VI transforms a wall of the Dorothy W. Levitt Lobby with neon and mirrored plexiglass. A glowing object inspired by space operas, pop culture, geometry and the setting sun, this sculpture is informed by Ruiz’s minimalist aesthetic and a materialist honesty. She creates simple shapes—the cylinder, the semicircle, the triangle—in expressive combinations of synthetic and natural materials, neon and earth tones.
